I'm having a problem with a new glaze (Mexico Point Green, ^6 ox.)
foaming a great deal when stirred or sieved. The pieces glazed have
interesting craters and bubbles that I could live without. Vaguely
remember a discussion of this problem a while back and it seems there was
a recommendation for something to be added to the glaze to reduce the
foaming. I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,
David

During the discussion of spodumene glazes foaming recently, there were a
number of suggested additions that would stop the foaming, but I believe my
suggestion was the only one that really removed the problem. That was to mix
lots of water into the glaze, let it settle, and siphon off the water. Do
this several times and whatever is causing the problem should be gone. Try
not to swallow any of the water when you're staring your siphon! Just
kidding- fill the tube with water from the tap, not by sucking from the glaze
bucket.
