Hi All,
Well it's almost too late to do this because I haven't been able to figure
out how to proceed. I have some multiple tile pieces, some round some
rectangle, that I want to make into wall-pieces to take to Cherry Creek. I
think the frame should be about 1/4"-3/8" wood and be flush with the tops
of the tiles. I would like the round things to be able to be made into
tables.
So. You lay out the tiles on a piece of 5/8" plywood. You leave room for a
grout edge between tiles and frame and cut your plywood. You bond the
tiles to the plywood and then apply your frame. In the case of the round
ones you soak a thin piece of molding for afew days and bend to shape and
wait for it to dry and shrink before nailing in place. You grout the
piece. You screw in big eyes to hang the thing...a bunch to take the
weight as this will be fairly heavy...and pray it will hold....Am I good so
far? Left anything out?
I would appreciate real fast response time on this as it has to be done in
next 2 weeks. Thanks heaps...

Elenora,
Everything except your plan for hanging should be fine. Depending on the
wood, location of the screws and weight of the piece, I'd opt for a more
secure hanging device.
Frank Giorgini describes one in his tile book that is the best I know of for
the weight of a tile piece.
You take a 2 to 4 inch piece of wood the width of the piece you want to hang,
then make a cut at a 45 degree angle the full length of the piece. Half of
this is attatched to the wall, the other to the plywood backing. They lock
together on the wall, evenly distributing the weight.
