1. Since one of the purposes in fritting is to render the toxic
non-toxic, one would assume that lead frit is therefore non-toxic. Would
that assumption be correct?
2. Assuming that said frit is nontoxic, does the copper oxide change
that?
3. Can you reformulate this glaze or suggest other ^6 redux glazes for
copper red?

Fritting a material does not make it non-toxic in the way you might think.
Fritted materials may be slightly soluble. and glazes made with fritted
materials,(lead), are not always safe.
Lead bisilcate is safer to handle than raw forms of lead, Like white or
red lead oxide but it still has a significant lead content. If used in a glaze,
the glaze may be susceptible to leaching if not properly formulated and fired.
The glaze would have to be tested for lead release and meet US standards
for lead release.
Some fritts are slightly soluble in thier powdered form and all lead
compounds should be treated with care and using proper protection
and disposal methods.
