georgia state university student kiln tour - summer 1997

updated fri 28 feb 97

Barbara Doll on wed 26 feb 97

A group of Georgia State University ceramics students are planning a "kiln
tour" of the north Georgia and western North Carolina mountains and possible
the South Carolina seacoast this summer. We are aware of the Hambidge
Center, Sea Grove Potteries, Penland, Arrowmont, John C. Campbell Folk
School, etc., but we would like to know of any potteries in these areas that
have unusual kilns that we could visit. We are also looking for inexpensive
accommodations for approximately 10 students, like a college dorm or
campgrounds. Any input and/or suggestions would be most welcome !

Thanks and Viva Las Vegas !!!!

Barb,

I'm about 20 miles down the road from Arrowmont on the way to Penland via
Interstate 40. You're welcome to stop by a poke your collective heads into my
kiln. 120 cubic foot fiber car kiln fired with two of my forced air burners.
Let me know about proposed dates.
