Nancy,
Randy's Red is good from 6 to 10. If you omit the iron and/or use other
oxides/carbonates, it is also great in reduction.

Actualy, I just tried it, but using a slightly different
starting glaze. I altered this glaze as noted:
Towy Red
Custer Spar 16
Talc 14
Gerst. Bor. 31 I used 28
Bone Ash 2
EPK 5 I used 8
Lead Bisilicate 2 I omitted this
Silica 30
Red Iron 15 I used "Spanish RIO" from Baily Ceramics
I fired to a kiln setter cone 8, oxidation.
I soaked it for a couple of hours on "medium" (Skut) at orage heat.
This occured about 1 1/2 hours after the setter dropped. Got a nice
deep fox red with carmel motteling. I soaked it at cooldown too long
to get the famed RIO red.
