I recently visited the Wedgewood factory near Stoke-on-Trent England
and was given about 10 pounds of Jasperware clay body (as my reward
for giving a go at throwing on a wheel set up for children - my
English cousin dared me!!!). I'd like to make something with it,
perhaps a teapot and some cups. The potter at the factory who gave
it to me said that it fires at 1140 C, which my charts translate to
around Cone 02. Does anyone have any glazes that work at that
temperature? I'll probably fire it oxidation in my bisque kiln.
I've already checked Glazebase and the closest I got was Linda
Arbuckle's Cone 04-03 majolica. I'll probably use it as a basis for
experimentation if no one has any other glazes to suggest.
Thanks,
Bill

In the June/July/August 1993 issue of CM there is a glaze called
Water Blue Glaze rated for 04-02:
Gerstley Borate 5.8%
Frit 3110 (ferro) 76.9%
EPK 7.2%
Flint 10.1%
with additions of Copper Carb. b/w 3%-6%
There are also many other glazes rated at 04 in that article if that
would be of any help.
