I'm new to glaze mixing & need helpppppp!
1) Is there a substitute for Chrome Oxide---I read that it could be (probably
is...) carcinogenic.

2) Can majolica be used on dinnerware/food items? Is it soluble over time?

3) For someone new, what's the best way to determine if a glaze recipe is
safe for use on dinnerware (that is, other than barium carbonate...I know not
to use that one on food ware---but, is strontium carbonate safe?)?

4) Is there any way to determine if a glaze will be hard enough to withstand
knives (i.e. dinner plates that you cut food on --- no scratch marks)?
