glazing overfired pots

In the past I've been able to get decent results 2 ways

1. Mix corn syrup with glaze. The syrup makes the glaze stick to the
pots, but burns off harmelssly in the firing.

2. Salt fire the pots without glaze. you'll want to use more salt
rather than less(6 or 7 kg.).

Hope this helps,

John

I just opened what was supposed to be a bisque fired kiln only to realize I
had put a 6 cone in the sitter instead of an 04. = : O

In my handy little brown book from Ceramics Monthly they suggest you paint
your pot with liquid white glue (Elmer's like). After this drys you have a
tacky surface that glaze will adhere to. I've used this system successfully
several times.

I also remember that, if you put Clorox on the pot, the glaze will magically
adhere.
