Hi all,
A potter friend is going to be in Japan for a year teaching
English--he'll be living in Maizuru-shi, about 60 miles north of
Kyoto. Is anyone on the list around there, or do any of you have any
suggestions, advice, hints about what to do and where to go?
Some of you have posted wonderful iteneraries--if you've a copy and

can repost to me at

jaeberso@gettysburg.edu

I'll forward them to him.
Hope life is just fine this summer for all of you,
regards, Jane

Hi,

I am looking for sugguestions of Potteries, Museum, Kilns, to
visit during my business trip to Japan. I am staying about 1 hour east of
Tokoyo, and am thinking about heading up to Mashiko near the end of my
trip. Also, friends of my ask me to bring them Pottery Book and Magazine
back, Anyone know where I can get them ?

I think I am staying near Ohtsuki. I will be leaving on Sunday and coming
back in about two weeks.

Thanks,

Gary Wang

Tokyo has a number of museums in private homes
which house the collections of industrialists.
Ceramics are well represented in these collections.
Problems is that they are scattered all around
Tokyo and some are abit hard to find. I just used
a guidebook and went to one or two every day.

Greg-
If you send me your freetime schedule and what book
and magazine you are referring to, I might be able to
help you. I believe you are staying near Mt. Fuji and
I live not so far away in Numazu at the top of the Izu
peninsula.
Let me know at:rlyell@izu.co.jp

Hi Gary,
Rick Hugel here. I am located in Hachioji, on the outskirts of Tokyo, where
I live and have my studio/kiln/gallery. I know a few potters in the area,
who might know more. Be happy to help anyway I can. E-Mail is "rjh@twics".
Home phone is 0426-54-8821. Studio phone, where I am most of my life, is
0426-54-0306. Are those book and magazine requests for Japanese or English
ones? Japanese ones are easy to get, but English ones a bit more
difficult.
