Hey everyone:
I saw an interesting vase the other day and would like to know more about
the process. It was a basic black gloss glaze with the opening and neck
of the vase being a gold, metallic looking over-glaze running down the
side. The gold glaze had layers in it and appeared to have a solvent or
petroleum look. How was this gold glaze effect done? Recipes?
Technique? Firing procedure? I've been told the potter used a technique
similar to the art glass of the 1920's. What does that mean? Can someone
out there enlighten me! TIA

This could be Hanovia's HALO GOLD LUSTER. It's pretty cool stuff. You
fire it to ^018 after applying it to glazed ware.
