I use real gold leaf . I'm still using stock i've had for years . I don't know
if it is purer than whats out now . It does make a wonderful effect . I use
low fire (cone 06) dinnerware safe (yes commerial) gloss glaze . Do 1 coat
clear and while it is still wet i will lay the gold leaf sheets on in a hit
and miss effect . do another clear and while still wet fill in the empty spots
. I usally thin out so i can add a third coat . Fire as glaze calls for . In
heavy leaf spots nice gold . In light leaf spots tranparent . Hope this helps
