I don't have any more information, but for those with a sense of the
poetic, I had to mention an interesting lead. I called a company to
purchase lavander oil and pine resin, and in the process of describing my
purpose- on the off chance the sales person might be familiar with the
process, the person exclaimed- "Oh, you do fire-gilding!" (Now that is a
marvelous term- "fire-gilding") He was unable to cite a specific source
for that term but said he had come across it in a sculpture book. Now if
anyone knows anything about Fire-gilding- PLease send me a post.
Several people have asked me to post my findings which is why I have
continued to post on this topic. Again, thanks to those who have replied.
