as to scales, beams etc. a simple formula for converting grams to pounds is
as follows... grams x .0022= pounds. example....1600 grams x.0022= 3.52
pounds.
i use a bakers scale that goes to 25 pounds and can set the scale to zero
for the container. over the years i have found for mixing large batches of
glaze this system works very nice. if you have touchy glazes, or must be
very accurate with oxides then use the triple beam scale.
all testing is done with the triple beam, but for standard glaze mixing that
is done several times a year nothing beats pounds. (and i certainly agree
that it keeps the mess and dust to a minimum.) mel
