Next week, the Southern Highlands Craft guild will hold it's Fiftieth
Anniversity "Craft Fair Of the Southern Highlands", in the Civic center, in
Asheville, NC. The dates are : Friday through Sunday, (17-20 July), and the
hours are 10AM to 6PM.
There are a few names that have been mentioned here on Clayart that will be
there, or will be visiting. At any rate, there will be some FINE claywork,
as well as other crafts, on exhibit. There are probably more working
potters within a 100 mile radius of this spot than any other in the US.
This fair is one of the oldest continuous running craft fairs going. It is
well worth seeing, as is the companion fair, held at the same place, on
October 16-19. Material on exhibit will range from the very traditional to
the more current. (However, I dont think any members of the AGPG{or
whatever} will be in view.)
Because of the fair, and the fact that Iris is showing her quilts, I will
be absent from Persimmon Hill, and from the list, for just about a week.
