Hello,
I have recently moved to Los Angeles and am looking for other potters in this
area. I just joined "The Potters' Studio" in West L.A. and would recommend it
to anyone looking for a good place to do work, as the people there are all
very friendly and knowledgeable. If anyone knows of any job opportunities
I'd appreciate ANY leads. I've worked as a studio assistant for many
wonderful people in Upstate New York (Mary Roehm,Vaughn Smith and Katea
Britten-Shaw) as well as at Penland School with Mary Berringer. I have also
taught several small classes in ceramics. Any information on people, etc.
in the West Coast area would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Zoya

Zoya: One way to make contact with people in the Los Angeles area is
to join the American Ceramics Society/Design Chapter, Southern Section
(a mouthfull). Contact the membership chair, Leon Bush at (818)
342-5487, 4500 Sendero Place, Tarzana, CA 91356. You might alos visit
The Clayhouse in Santa Monica, 2909 Santa Monica Blvd. (310) 828-7071.
That's a beginning. Each contact will put you in touch with many
others.

We have the American Ceramic Society-Design Division.
I think that we have about 300 members and do all sorts of things like raku
parties, pit firing at the beach, shows, general meetings etc. etc.
Membership is $20 a year and you will get about 10 newsletters a year telling
you all about the club activities.
I know the Clayhouse as I used to be well aquainted with the previous owners.
I myself live in Sherman Oaks. There are a lot of members in the San
Fernando Valley and quite a few in Santa Monica.
For more info. please get in touch with Leon Bush (818)342-5487 who is the
membership chairman. or feel free to call me (818)990-9423.

Zoya,
You are welcome to come through San Diego and stop at my studio in Spring
Valley. I do functional and sculptural work. I know many potters in the area,
most work alone in small studios. David Cuzick Claycuzian@aol.com
