I am preparing Cone 06 glazes comprised largely of frits and feldspar.
For suspension, I add 0.5 Macaloid and 2 tablespoons of CMC mixture per
100 grams of glaze.
The glazes are perfect for about 1-2 weeks when suddenly they seem to get
very watery, sometimes falling out of suspension. Even after re-seiving
the glaze, it dries seconds after application, as though CMC had never
been added at all.
This happens with all glazes I've ever made. Do studio glazes just not
keep? What is the secret of commercial glazes that remain suspended and
perfect for brushing for years in the same jar?
Any help will be appreciated!
