Hi Everyone!
I have been reading these lists for so long that it's time I start
contributing to it.
I would like to share some recipes that I've been using for some time...
These glazes fire to ^6 but you need to do some experimenting since kilns
tend to hold heat differently.
^6 MTHpurple
Nepheline Syenite 15
Dolomite 15
Gerstley Borate 30
whiting 6
SiO2 34
cobalt carb. 7.5
I know that this has a lot of G.B. in it and I've been reading the comments
about using Frit 3134 instead...I'm going to try it although I don't have any
problems with this glaze...The gerstley borate does produce a wonderful
mottling effect....Also, I know that it uses a lot of cobalt which is pricey
but I've been willing to pay that price because this glaze is a beautiful
purple matt which tends to sparkle like glitter in the light.
This is also a great base glaze(minus the cobalt) and I have been using it
for years. I make a crater glaze out of it by adding:
Silicon Carbide 1
Bone ash 1
So you all are aware, I do everything in Grams....
Let me know how this glaze works for those of you who try it!!!!!!
You can email me directly at BISQUEBOY@AOL.com or send your comments to the
list.
Happy Glaze making!!!!!!!
