Subject: high fire kiln wash
Hi Judy & all,
my favorite is one part Georgia kaolin and two parts alumina hydrate, measured
BY VOLUME. Add the dry materials to water to minimize
airborne particles. Make it the consistency of light cream &
brush on ... one layer .. thinly. This does not flake.
It's also granular enough to let porcelain pots slide on the surface
as they shrink in firing.
P. S. if you prefer weight measures, it's 20% kaolin & 80% alumina hydrate.
