high speed wheel

Hi All,

Somebody gave me a Creative Industries wheel that looks as though it might
have been built from a kit (it has a lacquered particle board work surface).
It has foot pedal control, but when I put the slightest bit of pressure on
the pedal the wheel turns one speed: EXTREMELY FAST. No pot making on this
baby; you could probably do some great spin art though! My question is, what
causes this foot pedal response and is it repairable so I can have variable
speed control?

Thanks :-)

Su,

I believe Creative Industries has a web page. And it sounds like you
just need a controler box. I had to purchase one for a brent B a few
years back and the cost was approx. $135 with a reversing switch.
Needless to say, the most expensive thing to replace outside the motor.

Good luck!

Oftren thee 'foot-pedal controls are 'slide-resistors.They operate by
sliding ametal tongue along a coil of resistanse wire and are notorious for
developing a "short" which cases the slider to remain in the full 'on'
position. Have your local sewing-machine repair person check it out. Don M.

Su,
I have a stand-up kick wheel on which someone put a motor with a hocky puck
on the shaft. Pressure on the motor brings the puck into contact with the fly
wheel and turns FAAST. I just get it going for centering and bring up mu pot
with the force left in the flywheel. Give it a try.
