I will be visiting the Hood River area (west of Portland along the Columbia
River) May 30-June 2. Does anyone know of any good pottery
shows/galleries/museum exhibits in the area? (I will have a car and plan
to go to Marybirdge Museum)
TIA

The Yakima Valley Community College is having it's Student and Art
Faculty Exhibit May 12 to June 6. All the usual disclaimers apply but
I may try to catch the opening. Might see ClayArter Erin Hayes.

The exhibit is in the Larson Gallery, 16th Ave and Nob Hill Blvd.
Yakima Washington.

By the way it's the Maryhill Museum... and don't forget the replica of
Stonehenge.

I was at the Larson Gallery today for the student/faculty display. It was
mostly student work and the pottery appeared to be mainly first semester
students. Some of the metalwork was wonderful, though. There was a painted
sofa that, I hope, earned an "A" for the student/artist. It was truly
original.

If you feel like driving a bit, you might try Allied Arts Gallery in Richland.
There is pottery there from both local and other northwest potters. There is
also a juried art show this month that does not contain any pottery, but is
interesting. Appleseed Gallery in Kennewick also contains some local
pottery.
Hope this helps, and that you have a good trip.
