Hi Elenora,
You struck a nerve when you mentioned Cherry Creek that is if you mean
the one in Denver. I checked it out this year and was very
disappointed. It appeared that the jurrors were more interested in
stocking, no, stuffing the show with glass blowers, glass slumpers,
glass carvers and any kind of metal and paintings they could get their
hands on. Two or three painters side by side all looked like they were
sharing the same brushes. Functional pottery was non-existant. One or
two functionalists were so polished and and expensive that the peices
didn't have much accessability. (I've never had the chance to whip up
a Ceasar salad in a $500 salad bowl) Which is ok I guess. But my main
beef was that potters were not equally represented in the mix and it
stood out very obviously. I felt slighted. Maybe next year will be
better. But after doing and touring the Ann Arbor show nothing seemed
to feel right at Cherry Creek. Just my two cents in the mix.
