I just got a from a Mailorder house that deals in discontinued books. One of
the books listed by them is Donald E Firth's Mold Making for Ceramic Art. Is
there a new edition coming out or should I snatch up this offering because
it's going out of print?

The book is selling for $65 at the local book store. How much is your
mailorder book company selling the book for and what is the company?

Forgive me if I am wrong, but isn't his name Don Frith ? (not Firth). Some
one looking for the book by the name of the author might have a tougher
time if the name is spelled incorrectly.
Let me know if I am right. or wrong on that spelling.. ( I used to have the
book...but someone "borrowed it"....) :)
We met once when we gave lectures together in Utah at a ceramics
conference. Nice gentleman. Retired in Calif. now I think...He was very
active in Design Division of American Ceramic Society and Taught in
Illinois, I believe...Carbondale? He knows a LOT about mold making!
GOOD BOOK.
Happy potting.

After reading the message, we checked with the publisher. The current
addition is low, but still available. A reprint of the excellent book is
being planned.

Yes, Ric,
Thanks for bringing it up. To set the record straight, his name is Don
Frith. He taught for many years at the University of Illinois in
Champaign-Urbana. He is still one of my favorite potters and the
several pieces of his that I own are among my treasures. He is retired
from teaching and living in California, making wonderful pots at the
moment, which you can see at Del Mano Gallery in L.A. Don is a super
guy, a fine teacher and a consumate craftsman.
