I am going to Houston on April 26-May 2 and I am looking for things to go
and do while there, ceramic and pottery related of course. Does anyone
know of any workshops that may be going on, galleries, or studios that
would be open to visitors during these dates!

Please let me know, I am going on a business trip with my husband and I am
looking for things to do while he is at a convention! I want to make the
most of this week other than stay in the hotel for 5 days...get my
drift!!!

Thanks,
amer

Hi Amy,
I was in Houston last spring and found a wonderful potter named David Trauba.
He shows his work at the Artables Gallery on 2625 Colquitt in Houston. The
owner is Oliver goldesberry and is a very nice man. By Rice Univ. there is a
potters guild that has a storefront. I believe it is listed in the "What to
do" in Houston booklet that you can get from your hotel.
Other that pottery it is well worth going to NASA and to Galveston if you
have the time.
Have fun,
Wendy from Bainbridge Island WA

I was in Houston over the Christmas break and will be moving there in
June. There are a number of good galleries to go to near Rice
Unversity...The Rothko Chapel is there and a block west is another
gallery that has some of his work as well as Matise, Warhol, and others.
There is a great little shopping center that has several potters showing
as well as other types of art. The Contemporary Gallery is still in the
Rice area and featured Lauren Pittman when we were there(he was recently
on the cover of "Art In America"). I hope that this helps...if you need
more just e-mail me straight back.
