the makers of itc the Delkic's of florida will not tell us what is in
it....(secret)
and yes it works.....covering kilns shelves not only protects them, but
kicks the heat back on the pots (reflects) if your shelves do not absorb
the heat think of the fuel saving....if the walls do not absorb heat think
of the saving. if you can solidify fibre think of your lungs and then the
reflection...nice.
in no way are any of us experts on this material, we are learning...by the
time hay creek is over (our workshop in adult shared learning) at the end
of june we will know a great deal more....
i have purchased two gallons and the filler... cost about 100 bucks a
gallon...but it is thinned with water and goes a long way. about a quart
for the electric kiln. we will spray the salt kiln first.
the little stoneware kiln second, and the wood fired third.
i am going to use a fibre top on the best little kiln in the world
(sprayed with itc), but
make a bound oregon top (d.hoskinsson) as a back up..(just to learn how.)
i am working on ideas to make the blkw look like a barbeque...using paver
bricks on the outside in an interesting pattern...then if some of you want
to put it on your patio no one will know the difference...i do not think we
a/ready to build it on a wooden deck 4 stories off the ground.

i used itc as a bandaid on my old tired handbuilt kiln. it worked for a
year, now i must rebuild. im not sure its a solution for an old kiln like
mine. it solidifies the inside to a unreusuable mass of bricks, but last
year financially rebuilding was not an option. it helped. but now i have to
rebuild. was it smart or should i have rebuilt last year using the 500. it
cost me. hard to say. it did not absolutely improve anything. that is my
story not good or bad hard to say

had about five posts, and two phone calls about availability.
also, a nice fellow that has great success with his gas/electric.
(roger has his running now too.)
axner has been a major supplier of itc stuff..
i notice that zack at mile hi has put in a supply.
i am sure there are others out there....maybe some
clayarters can fill us in.
i do not think that itc will be able to help you for
a bit. i would just leave that alone until i let youall know what is going on.

if you are having any trouble with this product, just let
me know and i will give you a hand. nils is rather busy
right now with his major gallery show. so, i will take
care of questions.
again, i am not paid by itc. not a thing.
nils either. we just love the product, and find that it works.
it is just like i would tell you to call marc ward, or nils for
burners. they know their stuff. i trust that.
test question:
just had a young man call me. takes about 16 hours to fire
his 40 cube kiln. 6 venturi burners/ 10 inches of water column natural
gas. 16 foot stack, 12 inches round. 81 square inch flu.
two bag walls. can't reach temp.
i told him, he was the one that is causing global warming.
all his heat is going up his stack.
his college professor taught him how to build a kiln.
not.

I've been told that kiln warranties are void if you use itc. Why do you suppose
this is? They don't know enough about it yet? They are afraid of people putting
it on wrong? Are you working with some specific kiln manufacturers that like it
and don't have a problem with it and warranty?
