Marshall.

The type of flower arrangement you refer to is Ikebana, and there are
several schools within this general description. It can be a lucrative
pursuit. Several years ago , for a few years in a row the students at Glen
Echo Pottery did a joint show with the Ikebana International of Washington
(DC). The potters made the pots, the flower arrangers did theri thing, and
we set up in the gallery for the month.

The first year, the Ikebana group came and did a demonstration for the
potters and spoke of their special needs in pots, what they looked for ,
and what made a pot special.

There are quite a few books on the subject of Japanese Flower arranging,
well worth checking out of the library. It is amazing how many different
shapes can be used, and really challange a potters creativity!

summer to be over.
