LINHARES on tue 16 jul 96
Hello Clayart,
I am making this post at the request of my employer, Millcreek
Stoneware, who is currently looking for someone who wants to work in
clay and generally help in the day to day operation of a production
studio. We are a small company consisting of: the President/ painter,
Patricia Fleming; the Vice President/ glazer/ kiln loader/ shipper,
Mary Murray; and myself the potter. The three of us managed to produce
and sell over $100,000 worth of pottery on the wholesale market last
year and this year our orders have almost doubled.
The position is available to start immediately and will initially
involve applying handles, slip banding, and making some of the simple
forms on the wheel. By the fall of '97 the position will take over the
responsibility of making all of the pots. It starts at $6/hr and if a
good rate of production is reached it can go to $20+/hr on the potters
piece rate.
We are looking for someone who can work hard, be devoted to
quality, and enjoy themselves at the same time. While production
experience is always a plus, it is not a requirement. A BFA in
ceramics or equivalent, and a strong desire to work in production
pottery can get you in the door.
My five years of production experience have been very valuable to
me. They took me from struggling to throw ok clunky pots to making
nice forms quickly and efficiently. A production mode also is helpful
when it comes to organizing your work space and time. It has provided
me with a steady income while I started my own business.
Working for Millcreek Stoneware would be a positive experience
for any potter. If you or anyone you know might be interested in this
position please give us a call, write, e-mail me personally, or just
stop in at:
