Hello folks-
Long time no talk to. Below is a job listing for a
pretty good position for a pretty good company. One
sweet groove as we say around here.
I am currently making one of my periodic side
trips in life as part of a six person research and
development department. I am currently working as head
of a new division devoted to making very large one
piece tiles. This is a 'people' company, not a
corporation. It is the largest art tile facility in
the US, employs over 150 people and pushes out over
1.5 million (wholesale) in tile out the door every
month.
This might be a good opportunity for someone who
has been dislocated by Katrina, or is looking for
something new to do.
Northern California is a beautiful part of the
world, grapes as far as you can see. San Francisco is
two hours south, the Pacific Ocean one hour west, and
the Sierras are 4 hours east. I go to SF to get cold,
the ocean to listen to the waves and the Sierras to
ski. Nice.
Sonoma Tilemakers, Inc. is a manufacturer of
handcrafted ceramic tile located in the beautiful wine
country of Northern California is looking for a person
with a ceramic background to serve as assistant to the
president.
We are currently seeking a Plant Manager. Candidates
should have a BS in Ceramics, or related area and at
least 3 years experience in manufacturing. Familiarity
with ram pressing, extruding, and fast-firing
techniques a plus.
We offer competitive wages, health benefits, profit
sharing, 401k and other benefits.
Please forward resume and salary history/requirements
via e-mail to:

Ceramic Tech position at Abington Art Center available. Abington Art Center
is located just outside of Philadelphia, PA. Starting with 10 hours/week,
possibility of 16 hours/week, also teaching opportunities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, kiln loading, unloading,
firing, and maintenance, glaze mixing, clay recycling, general cleaning,

The Art Center is a great place! The job is very flexible in terms of
setting hours, and the position's most appealing perk is 24 hour access to
the studio. The technician gets a dedicated studio space and free glazes
and firing.
There are a lot of programs going on at the Art Center, so if you wanted to
get involved in programs outside the clay studio, opportunities are
seemingly endless. Plus there is a great shop (possibility of selling your
work) and two beautiful galleries (possibility of showing your work.)
Check out the Art Center by visiting www.abingtonartcenter.org
