I am considering buying a kiln from another ClayArt member and she doesn't
know what the ampage (word?) is on the kiln. It is a Skutt 24 by 24 by 24,
about 15 years old. She says she thinks it is 220? If so, is that an
electric bill jacker? I mean, will it be expensive to fire?
Thanks
Figred.

Figred,
Amps of that kiln is probably around 45 to 50. Voltage would be 220.
I have something close to that and I fire to 2230* Centigrade. Someone
correct me if I'm way off but I think you will be paying about $7.00 to
$10.00 per firing. Lots of variables here so get ready for lots of comments.

2230 Centigrade ???? hardly, methinks that you have
erred. All the refactory bricks etc would be molten lava
at that temperature. 2230 Fahrenheit would be more
likely, this is about 1220 Centigrade. Cheers Ralph in PE

Thanks Ralph in PE SA
Right on---I stand corrected atop the pile of molten brick..
2230* Fahrenheit is exactly more likely
