We love our Skutts. The Kilnmaster is great and the few tiny problems
have been handled quickly by the folks at Skutt. We will be buying
another soon.

Dear Samantha, I do not know who you are getting your quotes from or
whether you have tried the manufacturers direct etc. etc. so I would not
wish to comment on the prices. All I can say is that we have been using two
Cone Art kilns for the last three years and have been extremely happy. They
are very well built. We have controllers on both of them. Recently they
have introduced a controller that has two pyro couples (one at the top and
one at the bottom) which automatically even up the kiln. I believe Ron Roy
who writes often to this list has one of the first. I would like to add
that it is extremely important to have a supplier or manufacturer that will
back their product. I have been dealing with Frank Tucker (whose company
makes Cone Art kilns) for 22 years and have had excellent service at all
times. I add the usual disclaimer.

I talked to Ken at Tucker's, Frank is still not back yet from NCECA
trip. He said I need to go through a distributor, so I have been and I
feel they've been jerking me around. These are the prices that
distributor gave me and they are pushing the Skutts. I called Ken and
let him know. I am unhappy about dealing through this distributor and
would value any other distributor on the west coast that sells
ConeArts. I think I would get a fair price somewhere else. $1850,
which is what I was quoted, is the suggested retail American price for
the 2827-10. When I asked for a quote on the 2327-1, a smaller kiln,
they gave me $1630 which is hundreds above the retail suggested by
ConeArt and then pushed the Skutts because of my budget constraints

And he is very please with it. That's what I want, but I am working on
a budget. I think I am going to get a smaller kiln now, no controller
and then a larger one with the works in January if my ship comes in as
expected. I need a kiln now, I have kids lined up to take classes, and
shops that want pots and I can't see myself twidding my thumbs!

I want to work with people with that type of integrity, that is why I
would like a different company to work through.

I would appreciate a better way to get a kiln.
