Help, all you kiln firing gurus out there=21 I have a newly build (fired 4 =
times)
updraft propane (an Olsen). It is supposed to fire to C10 in 8 hrs. So far=
I'm
in this firing 10 hrs. and C8 hasn't even started to bend. Last time I let =
it
go 12 hrs. (for bisque) and never got to temp, so then I started giving it =
more
and more gas. This time I only gave it 9 hrs. before I added more gas. =
We're
at 10 hrs. + and still going. It is not that I need the firing to be so =
fast,
but if I am not using the fuel efficiently, I'd like to know how to do so. =
I've
closed the damper 1/3 - as far as I dare without risking reducing which is =
not
the goal till I've mastered neutral/oxidizing firing. Should I continue to =
turn
up the gas (the instructions say I shouldn't need more than 4 inches and =
I'm
now up to 6). Should the damper be more open or closed to increase temp? =
I'm
not sure what else to try. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. =
You
can e - mail me directly at bluefire=40amaonline.com. Thanks=21 Julie
