I have been using the following wadding formula for the last I don't know
how many years not only to level deteriorating bottoms of kiln posts/props,
but as wads on top of each post to level the shelves: 50 pounds EPK, 1
pound Alumina Hydrate. Store in a heavy duty plastic bag inside a 5 gallon
bucket with lid.

In response to the many inquiries for a sediment trap, my plans are also
available to interested parties. The trap is constructed from an 11 gallon
Nalgene tank, on wheels for ease of emptying, and fits under most studio
sinks. It is an easily adaptable design to many stuidio situations. If you
are interested, send me a SASE and I'll send you a drawing.

As many have correctly pointed out, Pyrax HS in a pyrophyllite available
from RT Vanderbilt. I have used this materials for also more years than I
can remember, in all my clay bodies, casting and plastic, as a substitute
for all of the flint, or some of the flint and feldspar in the mix. Good
juju.
