In the book Glazes for the Craft Potter by Harry Fraser (Michael Casson
wrote the foreward) I came across this on "batt" wash: "A good wash can be
made from a 50/50 mixture of zircon and china clay, or alumina hydrate,
mixed with water to a suitable consistency for painting."
I guess I'll be doing some testing on kiln wash recipes. Hope this helps you.
