The Shelfords on sat 9 aug 97

Hi Dave -
Is this what you're after? I just got this info from Jeorge McGladrey in
Nanaimo - I presume it is his press release or something - Jeorge would
have had it on hand because he gave a workshop for the Tozan Society. I
haven't seen any of his work, but if you're around for the kiln opening on
the 9th, that would be a good opportunity:

>KIM YOUNG MOON
>
>Born July 15,1955 presenting living and working in Osan City Korea.
>Graduate of Hong-Ik University with his B.A. and M.A. in Ceramic Arts.
>
>Mr. Moon has been practicing the lost art of wood firing since 1984. He was
>recognized as a National Treasure in 1974.
>
>1990-1992 He taught Theory and Practical Ceramics at Won Kwang University.
>He has shown his work in one-man exhibitions.
>
>He has a commercial and Art Ceramic studio in Osan where he creates and is
>noted for his tea bowls, sculptures and ceramic flutes.
>
>He will presently be involved in a showing of his works jointly with Gordon
>Hutchens, Les Beardsley and Bruce Bearsley at the 84th Avenue Gallery in
>surrey B.C.
>
>1. the Tozan Cultural society is pleased to be able to fire his works in
>the Nanaimo Tozan Kiln, one of two outside of Asia, and then offer the
>pieces for sale on August 9th beginning at noon.
>

(BTW, not sure who thinks the art of wood-firing is "lost" - hasn't looked
very hard I guess...)

While we're at it, here is the press release for the opening of the Tozan
on the 9th, in case anyone will be around then:

>located outside of Asia.
>
>Work from some of Canada's best potters, such as Gordon Hutchens, will be
>joined by potters from the United States and as far away as Korea and New
>Zealand.
>
>Along with an extraordinary number of Canadian potters we are excited to be
>able to offer the citizens of Nanaimo the first chance at purchasing the
>work of Kim Young Moon and Mr. Tom Gunn.
>
>Kim Young Moon is Korea's National Treasure in Ceramic Arts. When in
>Korea he resides and works Osan City Korea. He is a Graduate of Hong-Ik
>University with his B.A. and M.A. in Ceramic Arts and has taught Theory and
