I am working on a ^10 stoneware throwing body. Can anyone educate me as to
the relative merits of kyanite and pyrophyllite in preventing thermal shock
problems? Is one better than the other, limit formulas, etc.

I would like to tag a question on to this . What about the health safety
of using pyrophyllite? It would seem that most of the thermal shock
protecting chemicals such as talc and the two above get that benefit from
their chemical structure-needlelike. Therefore might have breathing
consequences. That is stated as a question, not as a fact. Monona?
