Hi all!
Two questions for Santa Barbara and LA residents (I used to be an LA
resident!) I'll be attending the Santa Barbara Sculpture Symposium at
Santa Barbara City College from August 1 through 9th. I sculpt primarily
in clay, but also do bronze bas-relief and portrait sculpting.
I'm quite excited about the symposium and I'm writing to explore the
possibility of trading housing for that weeklong timeframe in Santa
Barbara for a week staying in Colorado and working out of my studio (at
some time in the future that would be convenient for both). I have 2
electric kilns, a raku kiln and am building a low fire soda/salt kiln. I
live in Grand Junction, Colorado, 45 minutes from skiing and right on the
Colorado River with rafting possibilities galore. Also, excellent spot
for hiking, camping, climbing, mountain biking, dinosaur digging, etc.
The Santa Barbara conference will keep me busy during the day and I'll
have a car so I'll be independent. Primarily need a place to crash at
night. Anyway, any interested, adventuresome folks in the area who would
like to trade?? You can e-mail me or call me at 970-241-6939.
Additionally, I will be visiting friends in LA before and after the
conference and am wondering if anyone on the list can recommend potential
galleries to show my contemporary raku-fired sculpture. I do abstract
and figurative wall sculptures...Spirit Beings, Goddesses, and Earth
Metaphor series. I am familiar with Del Mano Galleries in West LA and
Pasadena. Something along that line but more clay-sculpture oriented is
what I'm hoping to find. I won't have a lot of time to do research on my
own, so any help you guys can provide would be great!!!
PS - For any potential takers in Santa Barbara, I'd be happy to provide
personal references showing that I'm a safe, responsible person {:>)
Mucho TIA,
Carol Craiglow
