Does anyone have a good source for purchasing a large quantity of throw away
latex gloves? Local stores (Target, K-mart etc...) carry them but only in
very small quantities. I'd buy 500 - 1000 in a box if they come that way.
Thanks!

Susan:
Sams club, here in WV carries latex gloves by the box....can't remember the
price but seems to me they were very competitive....some auto parts stores
also carry them especially if they handle auto body supplies like putty,
filler, paint mixing, etc.
As a last resort, if you have any contacts at your local hospital, someone in
materials management(purchasing), they could give you the name of their
supplier.
I'm sure the hospital has 'shopped for price' very hard. The only downside to
the hospital source is that you would probably need to buy them by the case
rather than by the box of 500. So you'd have a supply of 10,000. The upside
would be that you wouldn't have to fool with it for a long time! LOL!!
Hope this helps

Try medical supply houses.
Jim. Whose wife is an RN and goes through them quite fast.

Susan,
I get mine from Moore Medical Corp., New Britain, CT 06050. Tel
1-800-234-1464. The item for order is no 50666. They come in boxes of
100 gloves, and there is a minimum order quantity (sorry, can't remember
what it is). I usually order between 6 to 10 boxes at a time. Seems to
me they end up costing about $.06 per glove.

Susan, Are you looking for powdered or unpowdered gloves? Most gloves come in
boxes of 100's, and are available in small, medium or large sizes. Carol

Preferably powdered...but un powdered will do okay.
Thanks to all who have responded both on the list and privately! I've
received many good ideas...all of which I will pursue and figure out the
least expensive way to purchase these!
Thanks again!

Hi Susan,
Walgreens sells boxes 50 for $8 which is fairly convenient, but the better
choice is Northern Safety Co, Inc, 800-631-1246. They have 57 pages devoted
to gloves in their catalog, including types I've never seen except at
halloween. The quality seems better than Walgreens -- I can reuse the
disposables more reliably -- and they always have the size you want.
A satisfied customer with no other ax to grind for them.

Not what you asked for but are you sure latex is what you want? Vinyl
disposable gloves are much less permiable to most harmful chemicals although
you loose out some on manual dexterity because they aren't stretchy. Try
your safety supply companies (in the phone book).
