lead in used kilns

Yesterday someone said they were looking at a used kiln and
considering buying it.

I just want to say if it matters to you, you should test the inside
of the kiln for lead residue. I bought a kiln from someone who made
figurines and other decorative things and she used lead glazes.
I tested lots of pieces after firing and they were all positive for
lead. So was the inside of the kiln and all the furniture.

I have found the test swabs that are wet are better for testing than
the little blotter paper test.
