Hi All:
Awhile back someone asked a question about Albany substitutes and I
answered with my experience and problems, as notheing is exaclty like
Albany. Tom Buck graciously offered to help me solve my problems if I
would send him my original recipie, which I did. Quick as an email I had 2
suggestions that I have been testing and I am amazed. They are so close to
the original recipe that no one but me can tell the difference and they are
so close to each other that I cant tell the difference between the two. I
promised to share with you all the recipies so here they are:
First my original Albany Recipe:
Albany 80.0
Neph Sy 6.0
Borax 6.0
Black Cop OX 8.0
Tom Buck's Albany Substitute #1
Alberta 58
Neph Sy 17
Gerstly Bor 8
Redart Clay 9
Black Cop Ox 8
Tom Buck's Albany Substitute #2
Alberta 52.5
Neph Sy 23.0
Gerstly Bor 8.5
Barnard Clay 5.5
EPK 2.5
Black Cop Ox 8.0
Im now in the process of testing some of my other Albany Glazes with
similar changes to see how they work. All of us Albany lovers really owe
Tom, Tony(Hansen) and probably others that I don't know about a debt of
gratitude for making Life After Albany Possible
