I live in Mt. Vernon, Indiana. Which is a small town outside of Evansville,
IN. E-ville is a rather large city. But one thing I can not find is clay.
No one seems to sell it. I have found one place, but they are never open
and I haven't gotten over there. What I was wondering is if someone that
knows the area or surronding areas could tell me a distributor.
Thanks

A.R.T. Studio Clay Co. in Elk Grove Village, Ill. sells clay. I use both
the red raku (now special order only) and #125 Speckled brownstone.
Thier equipment is far to expensive though, I would mail order that form
somewhere else.
There # is 1-800-323-0212.
Julia in Michigan where the humidity is finally abating.

I live north of you in Sullivan County. I buy stoneware clay at Clay City
Pottery in Clay City, In. (It is locally dug). Also, I buy earthenware and
raku clay from Brickyard Ceramics in Indianapolis across from the speedway.
(It is the physically connected retailer/wholesaler for Amaco) I can get
better prices from Brickyard if I purchase enough at one time. Sometimes
the fact that Clay City is closer to home is worth the extra money. My
studio is by my home on hwy 58 west of Carlisle (by the 7 mile marker). If
you drive up north on 41, please stop by.
Good luck.

the Present.

Diane,
Ohio Ceramics Supply in Louisville Ky. has a good variety of
de-aired pugged clays and carries a great selection of the normal low
fire glazes etc. They do not carry any high fire glazes or the chemicals
to mix them. I have used several of their clays and other potters in the
area do as well.
