As usual, the clayarters come through with help and support.-- My original
request for help in finding an article was answered very rapidly by the
author,(Elke Blodgett) herself. Her answer was so fast it was in the same
download, the next morning, as my original plea. After her, the landslide
started. I have recieved MANY offers of the article, and, in addition, much
additional data from others. I dont know how to thank you (all) enough.
BTW, this is not a collective reply to the group that helped me- I have
answered each posting directly. (I think) This is a public statement of
wonder at the extent to which this group is far above average, in
Human-ness. I was astounded, even though I should have expected it, from
clues seen before.
It appears, from what I have received, that my problem is not Manganese
related. I was, after all, trying to get as much data as I could, on
possible causes. The story Elke tells is scary enough that I recommend any
of you that use Manganese check it out. Where my problem is in the
Peripheral nervous system, hers was in the Central system. Both of us have
had the problem of getting the attention of the people who can help,
although hers was much worse , in this regard, than mine. My neurologist,
at least, had tests done before he passed judgement. The clue is, to
continue to insist that there IS a problem. That was the way I got to a
good neurologist, in the first place.
Note, however, that the Dr I was refered to also had Psychiatric
qualifications. Until they can measure something themselves, they have to
allow for the possibility of self-delusion, at least, particularly in older
people.
In my own case, we have found direct physical causes for at least a part of
my problem. MRI and Myelograms have both shown restricted nerve passages in
my neck. That , at least, should relate to the hand problem, and may relate
to the rest. The surgeon gives me no assurance there, but has some hope.
Ethical surgeons are often reluctant about promising complete cures. As to
the cause-- he says "normal wear and tear of an active life" .
I got several postings relating to material problems others have had. I can
only say that we ALL should be more carefull. I have seen doubts about the
toxicity of some of our ingredients on this list. My comment is to follow
up on the clues you hear, and to use your masks and gloves if there is any
doubt. Masks always, if you spray.
Thanks to all- surgery next Wednesday (18th). I will get my daughter to post
status to you, when she downloads my mail. (I am NOT going to "nomail" this
group-- I might miss something)

Bill,
We all wish you well, and speedy recovery. That is the unselfish
part. The selfish part is that we wish your promt return to the list,
so that we can have the wisdom of your counsel, and the pleasure
of your (wry) humor, and the general enjoyment of your thoughtful
self.
