Jonathan Kaplan on wed 6 nov 96
I have received a proposal for a large contract for a piece that requires a
very clear cone 06-04 glaze. My first reaction was to use a commercial
clear from one of the many vendors that I have used in the past. The down
side of this is not only the cost, but the fact that these glazes are not
meant for dipping. I can bid this project with a shop built glaze much
better that buying gallons of funky stuff from Amaco/Reward/Duncan etc. I
would rather my staff dip these pieces than brush three coats.
We will be casting these pieces from a low temperature talc body that is
basically talc, ball clay, and some PV clay.
I am soliciting input form this knowledgeable group for clear glazes in the
06-04 range, frit based or otherwise.
Your gracious help is appreciated, and will be reciprocated if possible.
TIA
Jonathan
