Hello all,
I realize that there was a thread on lustres a few months ago, but I was
wondering if anyone still had the information floating around. I am
taking a course in Islamic Art History and the instructor would like me
to try to emulate a lustre ware piece for a final project. I have
Craiger-Smith's book but would be very grateful for helpful hints, firing
advice, and/or recipes for lustres.
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
Yours,

A late reply regarding lustres. I have been away and just picked up this
thread.
There are four kinds of lustres. I have had some experience with three
of them: bottled lustres of various kinds (copper, bronze, gold,
platinum), in-glaze reduced lustres (copper and silver), and fumed
lustres. (But not with the Persian/Alan CaigerSmith type).
If I can be of help, please write.

Folks, a fellow local potter poses this question... anyone have an idea? I
would guess water would be the right substance, but I have never mixed
lustres. Please reply directly to mugzy1970@hotmail.com
