Hey, Clayarters:
Claudia and I are going to Maine July 30-August12. We'll be in
Millinocket where she grew up. Close to Bar Harbor and Baxter State
Park.
I was wondering if there were any potters we can visit in Maine. Any
suggestions til Tuesday night? Thanx!
We'll be suspending Clayart while we're away.

studio guide.

I am a fairly new potter (3 years) so I am always checking out other
potters. Last year on my annual Maine vacation I checked out as many As I
could find in southern and central coastal Maine. I met some wonderful
people. Alex Tomasulo at Mud of the Ages was one of my favorites. She has a
one woman studio in Walpole ( rt. 129 off rt . 1 ) . She spends an
incredible amount of time burnishing and sculpting many of her pieces She
spent over an hour talking with me and even critiqued photos of my work, The
is Edgecomb Potters and Sheepscot pottery (large businesses) in the Boothbay
region near rt. 1 and many in the Camden area. I found Ash Cove Pottery
interesting if you are in the Brunswick area. It is owned by one woman. Her
location is beautiful on the Casco Bay.
Of course, this year I am looking forward to visiting the Clayarter's show at
the Talbotts in Naples. I will also be canoeing on China lake and exploring
Peak's Island and a few others.
I found quite a few potters brochures at the visitors centers. Check one out
in the area you are visiting. Have a great time and dont forget to have a few
lobsters and fried clams!

Hey Clayarters: Claudia and I are back in Miami from our two week trip
to Maine where we ate lots of lobsters and steamers. Thank you to Robert
Santerre for the list. We went to 99.9%l of them plus we found a couple
extras, too. A highlight was going to Naples and seeing and seeing
Marshall and Celia. What a great gallery. They sent us to a bed and
breakfast up the road. Naples has a beer microbrewery which we checked
out. Marshall: the tomatoes were fantastic. Ate 'em like apples.
All the potters we saw were happy and doing well. Claudia thought it
was great to find MAINELY POTTERY just north of Belfast right on the main
artery of the coast, U.S. 1, displaying a little bit of just about every
potter from Maine. We realized that here in Miami that this type of
community created for pottery does not exist.
Now that we're home, we're busy making pots getting ready for Xmas. My
first show will be in Chattanooga, October 3-4. Then New Salem, just
south of Chattanooga on top of Lookout Mtn the next wknd, then off to
Ketner's Mill in Tenn the wknd after that. Please come by and visit.
Another note: I will sell my Alpine 24 gas kiln for $2500.
