This program was made possible, in part, by funds from the Lexington Arts &
Cultural Council Community Arts Development Program.

This exhibition celebrates today's love affair with coffee and tea, and the
art and craft of potters working in maiolica glaze technique. The
invitational exhibit of seven potters working with the maiolica technique
shows the variety of interpretations of mugs and cups as well as the
versatility of the medium. The potters were chosen for their individual
relationship with making pottery and the maiolica glazing technique. Each
potter approaches making pots and surface decoration uniquely while
retaining the historical context of the medium. Curator, Steve
Davis-Rosenbaum's goal for the exhibit "is to bring together the variety of
forms and techniques used in majolica, while presenting contemporary
interpretations of coffee and tea sets. The work selected for the
exhibition ranges from utilitarian to abstract interpretations of coffee
and tea ware".
