Vince- Yes- I agree with you that the term Black Majolica is somewhat
confusing. I posted that request for a friend who has been looking for a
recipe with that name. I was not sure if a glaze with the colorant in it
would be considered a majolica.
I have received a couple of recipes called "Black Majolica" which have
the stains or oxides substituted for the opacifier...Thanks for your
overglaze recipes. Meg

Are you looking for a black overglaze color for Maiolica? Referring to
something as a "black maiolica glaze" seems self-contradictory, since a
maiolica glaze is by definition a white, opacified tin glaze over which we
apply colored decoration.
