Vanessa Smith, director at Native Soil, asked me to announce that there are
still 5 openings in the majolica workshop I'm teaching June 2-6 at Native
Soil, Shimpo's educational studio in Evanston, IL., outside of Chicago.
Class is a max. of 15.
In this one-week workshop we'll spend the first day or two making work,
bisque, and then work on majolica glazing the end of the week. Slides
lectures include historical background on majolica with many contemporary
practitioners, looking at decorated pottery, as well as my personal work.
Some forming demos will be given, terra sig information, majolica technical
information, surface decoration discussion, and other technical information.
Shimpo has equipped the studio, so it's an opportunity to try their
products, as well as the new Amaco GDC majolica decorating colors that Dave
Gamble has been kind enough to provide for testing.
