Folk:
I'm an aging potter that's getting a bit tired of sitting up nights with a
hard brick gas kiln that takes about 20 hours to fire to C10. I get great
reds both on the pots and in my eyeballs. I would like to get started in
Majolica. What's a good way to start. I notice with some interest the
kits that Axner sells - are they good? Do they cost too much? What's a
good base glaze? What about the overglazes? I have a fair amount of skill
with a brush (although I'm no painter). What information can you give a
fellow who is going over the hill that wants to re-ignite the creative spark?
Thanks

Bob,
I just bought some great Majolica glazes from AMACO. They are already
mixed. They look great on red low fire clay ^05. Just coat with the base
glazes they recommend, then paint to your heart's content. I love mine!
Have fun!!
