manganese in well water

The discussion about manganese being toxic to inhale is frightening. No
one mentioned whether manganese is toxic if ingested. My well water
contains high levels (.09 to 1.4 ppm). The county engineer says it is
not a health hazard. hmmmmmmm....

Does anyone have info on this? Manganese is included in some
vitiman/mineral supplements. So is it OK as a trace mineral? How much
is too much?

Should I install an oxidizing filter to remove it from my drinking water?

Is it dangerous to bathe in this water?

Any info would be appreciated.

I can't tell you what to do about your well water, but there is a
medically
documented case from somewhere in the East (can't recall right now if it
was in Japan or China) where discarded batteries from some bicycle repair
shop were buried near the family well. Several family members died and
others got very ill. At first, nobody knew why they all got so ill, then
the sickness was traced to the mn.
Monona Rossol will give you more info. She has a copy of my article which
also mentiones thus, I think.

Don't panic,, just have the water tested again to make sure of the amount.
Mn is ubiquitous and just about everwhere and in everything.
