Again this summer I find that I will be spending some time in Mexico
City, maybe even collect some ash from the erupting volcano Popo. I
have been there many times before and have enjoyed visiting the museums,
but this time I would like to visit a working studio. I was wondering if
any one has suggestions about studios in the Mexico City vicinity. Any
information would be helpful, send responses to me directly. TIA

If you are willing to travel 4 hours, towards San Miguel Do Allende, the
small potters village of Dalores Hildago lies ouside the city. San
Miguel itself is an artists colony, and lovely colonial town, beautiful
to see. Much of the pottery from Delores can be seen in stores in San
Miguel.
I took a first class bus from Guadalajara to San Miguel at Christmas. I
met an American artist who lives there on the bus. She went to SM and
didn't come back, 8 years ago. I find it easy to meet people there. The
bus trip was nice, about 6 hours , with movies. It has become touristy,
but has an interesting history as an artist colony, which I'd be glad to
share with you if interested.
Take antibiotics along, if you get sick, it may be more devestating
that you can imagine. Bacterial intestinal infectines can trigger
genetic predispositions to Immune diseases, and others, that people
often don't know they have until it is too late. i have spent so much
time in Mexico, but this last time, it got me! Antibiotics would have
knocked it out. My Doctor says I can still travel, but I should take
antibiotics along. Just a suggestion, we usually think we are
invincible, especially if we have done something before and haven't
gotten sick. I practically lived in Mexico for awhile, but it did get
me, and believe me, I didn't know if I would ever walk again!
