I've heard from Minerva Navarrete, NCECA conference planner, that the rooms
at Bally's are sold out. You may still want to try there in case of
cancellations: (800) 833-3308. Rooms there are $88./single or double + 8%
tax (NCECA rates)> Bally's is at 3645 Las Vegas Blvd. S.
Other hotel options that are not connected to NCECA are below. These hotels
have no connections with NCECA. Minerva did call and these are close to
Bally's. If there are no spaces available you may try calling City Wide

I just went about trying to reserve a room near OSU for NCECA. Be aware, I was
told, that there is a large women's basketball (no, the tournament is large, not
the women) tournament going on Mar17,18,19, which is taking a number of rooms at
near campus hotels.

Hi Ken,
Math, as you can tell, is not my best subject; but still $4.00 buys a
beer (well, maybe not at the Hilton)! I didn't think there were any
NCECA block rooms left but maybe some more opened up. When I said it was
cheaper I meant compared to the regular rates if the block rooms were
not available not so much in comparison to conference deals. You burst
my bubble. I don't feel so great about my savings anymore so I better
get back to work! :)

Hi Patricia,
When I first read your email I was all bummed thinking I could've gotten
my
rooms much cheaper... until I did the math.
I just made reservations at the Westin Crown Center this morning at the
NCECA
rates of $120/night (13th - 17th)... didn't even think to ask about
using my
AAA membership.
Although, after doing the math... looks like for a stay from Wed. - Sat.
night... you'd only save an average of $1.00 each night (total of $4.00
savings) by using AAA instead of NCECA discount. Now I don't feel so
bad.
But hey... you were right... it IS cheaper.
Best Wishes,
Ken

Whatever happened to the idea that the Clayart group was going to reserve a
number of rooms in one hotel? I don't remember who was looking into this. I
plan on going to Baltimore but have not done anything about a room. Am I
now too late? Dolita

We, (Barbara Brown and I) did reserve as many rooms as=20
possible, including the Clayart Room, in two hotels. They have
now been filled. I had two left this last week and they are
now gone, Lolita. Most were filled a couple of months ago as
word spread about the many other conferences booked for
Baltimore during NCECA time.
However, I believe there are still rooms in areas a little further
from the conference center.... and there's always the chance
of cancellations.... as I was informed by Baltimore's convention
director.
Another however: it's very probable that if you just call a
nearby hotel where NCECA has booked as many rooms as
they can (so I've been told), there may still bespace at NCECA
rates. Day's Inn is where we booked some rooms and I
believe NCECA has rooms there, too. You can find a map
of the Convention Center area with surrounding accomodations
on the net, which is a start.

In the Mojave getting hyped about Mendocino... so many
GREAT presenters demonstrating various throwing
techniques! Twelve, I think is the number I counted. Gregg
is doing a fantastic job, as we knew he would.

Those who are complaining about NCECA not securing enough rooms, count
your blessings.
The last two (Three counting Baltimore) were all during either the last
week of classes or finals week at our school. (We are on the Quarter
system.)
So I can't go at all. maybe others can leave at a critical time like
this, but I would not do that to my students.
I wish they would move the dates around a bit from year to
year........Baltimore is a great city and with Deborah Bedwell and
Baltimore Clayworks involved it is
sure to be a great conference.
Wish I could worry about a room............ So enjoy it for those of
us who can not go.............and maybe report on it after you return.

Ps. eat lots of good food for us, as well.

Hello friends,
I have one room at Hyatt available start morning March 15, another room
start at March 16. The room is $130 + tax per night.
I have got a group of Chinese delegation, but some of them will leave
earlier. One room will be check out at early morning of March 15, and
another room will be check out at March 16. If any one interested to move
into Hyatt closer to the conference hall, please contact me at 408-891-5866,
or email ChineseclayArt@hotmail.com
Thanks!
Bad Reservation Service at Hyatt. I have booked 8 rooms from March 13 to 17,
and I try to take off one and two days on from the rooms we have reserved
since someone going to leave earlier. But I have been told that: For the
NCECA discount, you have stay at least FOUR DAYS each room (I never hear
that before), or I have to pay the full price which is $219 per night!

Po,
I think I would call the hotel directly and speak to the manager to cancel
the days you don't need. Or if you did this already, call the Hyatt 800
number and try a different agent.
